What We Believe

God

God has always existed and will always exist as a triune being – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one and equal (known as the Trinity).

God created the universe, including our earth, the animals, and humans. He gave humans authority over the animals, but not other humans. He gave humans free will so that they could have a choice about what they believe and do.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind. He was sent by God, the Father, to experience life as fully man and fully God. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on the cross to atone for the sins of all mankind, then he rose again 3 days later. His resurrection showed His ultimate power over sin and death. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we can have salvation secured for all eternity.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a separate but co-equal member of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit enters the lives of people when they accept the free gift of God’s salvation. He guides Christians along the right paths and is their advocate with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit empowers followers of Christ to live righteously and understand spiritual truths. He is also the giver of spiritual gifts. Christians should make every effort to follow His guidance on a daily basis.

The Bible

The Bible is the infallible word of God. God wrote the Bible through human authors inspired by the Holy Spirit. He provided it for us so we could have a source of truth and wisdom for living and the formation of Christian beliefs.

Imago Dei

God created humans in His image and gave them authority over everything else He created. They were created to love and worship God and be loved by Him. Even though humans were meant to be all good, like God is, sin has caused us to fall from grace, requiring a Savior, Jesus, to reconcile us with God.

Salvation

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it by putting our trust in Jesus Christ as God’s ultimate sacrifice, which saves us from the penalty of sin, death. When we admit that we are sinners and decide to let Jesus rule our lives through the Holy Spirit, we are saved, and eternal life begins. Once salvation is accepted, it can never be given back or revoked. Salvation is not dependent on any effort on our part, except for faith in Jesus, and the grace and power of God.

Heaven and Hell

People who know Jesus Christ as their savior will spend eternity in a real place called Heaven, forever united with God. Those who choose not to place their faith in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in a real place called Hell, forever separated from God and His love, grace, and mercy.

Just as Heaven and Hell are real, there is a real spiritual battle being waged around us all the time. Satan’s demons fight against God’s angels for control of the souls of humans. It’s up to us to learn about spiritual warfare and how to use our spiritual gifts and weapons to fight alongside God’s warriors to further His Kingdom and defeat the darkness in the world around us.
